To our valued patients,
The safety and health of our patients and staff are our utmost priority.
As you may be aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how all medical/dental facilities use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and has increased the requirements for treating dental patients due to the contagious nature of the virus. Due to the worldwide shortages
and increased costs of PPE, starting June 1, 2020, we will charge a nominal fee of $15.00 per visit per patient to help cover some of the PPE cost that is necessary to maintain optimal safety in our office for all of you and our staff. Some insurance providers are covering this fee and we will keep you informed as we find out more information.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

To our Patients and Families,
We are excited to announce that we are reopening our Kahala and Pearlridge Offices on June 1, 2020! We miss seeing all of you and we hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.
In light of Covid-19 pandemic disrupting and affecting all of our lives, our wonderful team at Clyde Y Uchida, DDS, MS, Inc., have worked tirelessly to acquire additional personal protective equipment (PPE), and to reinvent office procedures, all in an effort to provide you and your families with a safe and clean office visit. Safeguarding our patients and staff has always been of the utmost importance.
We recognize how challenging it may have been for our patients during the time our offices were closed and we sincerely appreciate your understanding of this unprecedented time. We were following the guidelines set forth by the state and local government, dental organizations (ADA, HDA, AAPD) along with the CDC. We made numerous changes to our offices and we will continue making changes as we receive more guidelines and recommendations. Please continue to be patient with these changes as they are not only for the safety for all of us in minimizing the risk of virus transmission, but also to help with providing the best possible care for our patients and families.
Some of those changes include but not limited to:
• Protection plexiglass barriers in our front office areas
• Increased sanitation and cleaning regimens
• All visitors/patients/parents are required to wear face coverings while in our office
• Limiting the number of patients & parents in our office to only the patient scheduled accompanied by one parent
• Increasing the appointment time allotted for each patient to ensure enough time to incorporate safety changes
• Temperature checks twice daily for all staff including Doctors
• Temperature checks for patient and parent upon arrival
• Increased hand sanitizer units for patient/parent use throughout the office
• Pre-check in screening prior to appointments
• Reading materials, toys and balloons are removed from the offices
• Implementing 6ft social distancing
• Utilizing optimal personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shields, gowns, masks & gloves.
• Blueair Purifiers in the front office and clinical areas that filters room air every 12 min to effectively lower virus, bacteria and particle levels (5 air changes per hour).
• The operatory areas will have Extraoral Dental Suction Systems which removes droplets/aerosols produced during dental treatment.
We recognize that there isn’t one individual thing that is capable of protecting us 100%, thus, we’ve incorporated all of the changes above in the attempt to create as many layers of defenses as possible. We hope you will continue to trust our commitment to providing a safe and caring environment for you and your family.
Our staff will be contacting those who had appointments previous to our closing, along with the patients scheduled in the future. We plan to reopen up in stages by prioritizing our focus on those patients with emergent and urgent dental needs and those with existing treatment that had to be postponed or cancelled. Our patient schedules will be modified to allow social distancing and increased infection control procedures. We thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces soon!

Your initial visit will provide a friendly, caring introduction to our dental home where lifelong relationships begin. The initial time spent with your child will include but not be limited to homecare instruction, nutrition counseling, growth & development evaluation, orthodontic evaluation as well as a comprehensive exam that will outline existing dental concerns.
When Should I Take My Child to the Dentist for the First Time?
The American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend that a child see a pediatric dentist within six months of the first tooth appearing, and no later than their first birthday. This should be the beginning of a positive relationship that will last through adolescence, between the dentist, the child and the parent. It also allows the dentist to monitor growth and development as the child grows, and catch any problems while they are still small and easy to treat. Our doctors gladly accept patients from infancy through adolescence.
Dr. Uchida is a very kind and caring Doc! He sees all 3 of my sons and they have no problem marching straight back to the office. When my youngest requires a filling he took great measures to ensure he was not afraid and performed the task as quickly as possible. We hope he never retires!!
My son has been going to the Kahala mall location since he was very young. He is 16yrs old now. Dr. Clyde Uchida has been very professional and informative. His staff is very friendly and efficient.
My boys have been going to Dr. Uchida for 6 years, and we have always had positive experiences.
